Help

Two things to get Catto purring: get access, then give it permission to notice your typing.

Getting access

  1. 1

    Adopt Catto

Catto is a one-time $1 adoption — no subscription. When the app can't find a purchase yet, it shows a small window with an Adopt button that opens the checkout in your browser. Or start from the sign-in page.

  2. 2

Sign in with a magic link

Enter your email and we'll send a one-tap link. No password to remember. Open the link on the same device you're installing Catto on.

  3. 3

    Pay once on the checkout

Checkout runs on Lemon Squeezy. They handle the card, tax, and your receipt — Catto never sees your card details.

  4. 4

    Reopen Catto

After paying, reopen the app. It spots your purchase, closes the window, and the cat shows up on your screen. From then on it just runs quietly in the background.

Set up on macOS

Without this, the cat still shows up — it just won't react to your keyboard.

  1. 1

    Run Catto once

Launch the app first so macOS knows it exists and can list it in the permission settings.

  2. 2

    Open Input Monitoring

Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Input Monitoring. Catto reacts to your typing (paws when you type, overheats when you go fast), which needs this access.

  3. 3

    Enable Catto

Toggle Catto on. During development you may see Electron instead — enable that. If macOS prompts for Accessibility too, allow it.

  4. 4

    Restart the app

Quit Catto from the menu bar and open it again so the new permission takes effect.

Set up on Windows

  1. 1

    Allow it through SmartScreen

On first launch Windows may warn about an unrecognized app. Choose More info → Run anyway. Your antivirus may also ask to allow Catto — that's the keyboard listener, which is expected.

  2. 2

    No extra permission needed

Unlike macOS, Windows doesn't require a separate input permission. Catto's typing reactions work right after install.

  3. 3

    Launch at login (optional)

Right-click the tray icon and toggle Launch at login so Catto is there every time you boot.
